Over 15 Arrests Made in West Palm Beach Drug Sting; 124 Felony Convictions Recorded

West Palm Beach, FL – A narcotics bust conducted by the West Palm Police Department results in several arrests.

Since October, the West Palm Beach Police Department has been conducting undercover operations and pursuing leads, and as part of the ‘Not on Our Block’ blitz, which is aimed at removing drugs from the streets of the city, more than a dozen arrests have been made.

A conversation between WPTV Reporter Kayla McDermott and West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo took place on the operation that resulted in sixteen arrests, all of whom had previous offenses.

“They all collectively have 124 felony convictions,” Araujo explained to reporters.

In the course of the inquiry, officers from the Special Investigations Unit, who were heavily armed and dressed in tactical gear, conducted raids on homes located in the Progressive Northwest area. Crack, marijuana, oxycodone, flock, and cocaine were among the drugs that were found and recovered.

As stated by Araujo, the success of the sting operation can be attributed to the fact that members of the neighborhood reported suspicious conduct to the police either directly or anonymously through the app provided by the police department.

“Their actions are resulting in what’s happened here and what’s continuing to happen,” Araujo explained to reporters.

We cannot do it without the community. Police officers can’t be on every block and every corner,” he added.

There will be other arrests made, and Araujo has a message for those individuals who have not yet been apprehended.

“Look over your shoulder, we’re not done,” Araujo suggested to the other person. “The community has had enough.”
