Detroit, MI – As Christmas Week kicks off, a blend of wintry weather and snow is set to arrive in Metro Detroit. By the week’s end, temperatures are set to rise significantly above the norm.
On Monday, expect overcast conditions. A blend of rain and snow is expected as well.

The weekend kicks off with plenty of sunshine and a few clouds, and the bright weather is set to continue into Sunday.
As we approach the end of the weekend on Sunday, expect to see some sunshine in the forecast, although there will be a bit more cloud cover lingering around too. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing, reaching only the mid-20s by Sunday afternoon.
As we look forward to the beginning of next week, the opportunity for winter weather returns to the area. An incoming low-pressure system is expected to bring snow and a wintry mix on Monday. Initially, the region will experience snowfall, but as warmer air begins to flow in, we can expect a transition to a wintry mix by Monday afternoon and evening in areas located along and south of M-59.
Forecasts indicate that several inches of snow may accumulate in regions north of M-59, with some models hinting at the possibility of even greater snowfall as conditions develop on Monday.
In regions south of M-59, we initially experience snow, but this will transition into a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, accompanied by some rain showers as temperatures rise into the mid-30s. Some regions may experience as much as an inch of snow, along with a light layer of sleet or freezing rain. Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-30s by Monday afternoon, while areas along and north of M-59 will remain at or just below freezing.

Looking forward to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, dry weather is expected to persist into Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect predominantly overcast conditions over the next couple of days, with temperatures gradually rising into the upper 30s during this period.
Overcast skies will persist on Thursday, with rain showers expected to return as we approach the end of next week on Friday. The trend of rising temperatures persists as we approach the end of next week. Temperatures are anticipated to rise into the lower 40s on both Thursday and Friday.
Precipitation possibilities remain in the outlook as we approach the beginning of the next weekend. Temperatures are on the rise, expected to reach the upper 40s as we approach Saturday.
