Mister O1 has been recognized as the top independent pizzeria in the U.S. in the 2025 Pizza Power Report by PMQ Pizza Magazine, and it’s easy to see why.
A Miami-based pizza chain has received an accolade based on crowd-sourced reviews from platforms like Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Facebook. This recognition highlights their star-shaped and authentic Italian pizzas, which have garnered a devoted fan base not just in Florida, but also in Texas, where they operate four locations. The location in Grapevine, Texas, has received such outstanding feedback that it contributed to Mister O1 achieving this prestigious recognition.
Renato Viola, hailing from Agropoli, Italy, runs his establishment independently, driven by his family’s deep-rooted love for quality food, which sparked his early interest in pizza. His dedication to the art led him to secure two prestigious titles in Monte Carlo, showcasing his distinctive star-shaped creation, “Star Luca,” featuring fluffy ricotta nestled in pouches along the edges, paired with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and spicy salami.
This acknowledgment granted him the O-1 Visa, an esteemed classification in the U.S. meant for those with exceptional talent, setting him on a journey to Miami with the goal of crafting unmatched pizza creations.
Currently, 20 Mister O1 locations are flourishing throughout Florida, showcasing Viola’s determination, expertise, and creative approach to pizza making, proving the skeptics wrong. As the beloved “hidden pizza spot” marked a decade of culinary delight this past October, Chef Viola took a moment to share insights about the journey with New Times.
