Expect Cold and Snowy Conditions This Weekend Snow Accumulation and Subfreezing Temperatures

It will be a cold evening in our area, with temperatures starting in the 30s and some clouds. The skies will clear overnight as temperatures drop from the upper teens to around 20 degrees.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS are in force this weekend, with a system expected to bring light accumulating snow Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Saturday will begin with plenty of sunlight and a few fleeting clouds. It will be rather cold in the morning, with temperatures only reaching the 20s by mid-morning. More clouds will appear in the afternoon, with a chance of snow flurries.

High temperatures will only reach the mid to high 30s to near 40 degrees, with wind chills in the 20s. As we enter the evening, snow falls throughout the neighborhood. Periods of light snow will continue overnight, with lows in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.

Snow will accumulate to around an inch across much of the area. Southern Kentucky is anticipated to have lower totals. This snow will be enough to coat the roads by Sunday morning, so there will most certainly be some church cancellations.

Sunday will begin with cloudy skies and snowflakes. Temperatures continue cold, with a few rays of sunshine appearing later in the day. Highs on Sunday only reach the mid to high 30s, with wind chills in the 20s. Sunday evening will see partly overcast skies, followed by clear skies overnight. Cold temperatures return overnight, with lows in the mid to high teens.

Monday will be cloudy and sunny throughout the day, with temperatures remaining cool. Monday’s highs will barely reach the mid-20s and low 30s. A few locations in southern Kentucky may see temperatures reach the mid-30s. Wind chill values will persist in the 20s and 30s. Partly cloudy skies will persist throughout the evening and overnight Monday night, with lows dropping back into the mid to upper teens.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with only a few fleeting clouds, particularly in the afternoon. Tuesday will be another cold day, with highs in the low to mid-30s and wind chills in the 20s. Partly overcast skies will prevail throughout the evening and overnight, as temperatures plummet to the low to mid-20s.

Wednesday will be cloudy rather than sunny throughout the day due to the chilly and gusty conditions. Wednesday’s high temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 40s. Overnight lows will drop into the mid-30s.

The end of next week will be chilly, with highs in the mid to upper 40s on Thursday and the mid to upper 30s on Friday. There may be a couple of additional snowflakes next Friday.
