Another update that fulfills the company’s promise is beginning to go out for a previous generation OnePlus handset.
The Chinese OEM shared the changelog for the OnePlus 12’s second Android 15 update. According to OnePlus, the upcoming update (vCPH2573_15.0.0.305) will begin rolling out in India and then move on to North America, Europe, and other parts of the world the following week. The business is “working to provide the update for you soon!” for OxygenOS 14 users, but OxygenOS 15 users will have to wait for the update.
More significantly, this update gives the OnePlus 12 a few AI-based functions.
AI Retouch will soon be available to users thanks to Android 15. Users will be able to improve the clarity of a “cropped, distant, or low-quality” image, according to OnePlus. “Unblur,” another feature of AI Retouch, is supposed to help restore lighting, colors, and other crucial aspects in photographs that are fuzzy.
Finally, for a “clearer more authentic” picture, “Remove Reflections” use AI to eliminate unattractive mirrored effects seen on glass.
The OnePlus 12 also gets AI Notes with the second Android 15 upgrade. The “AI Writing Suite” is the first step in that process, offering you tools to improve your drafts and “optimize” the AI’s writing style so that it does the laborious work for you. While “Clean Up” eliminates “filler words” to allow for more ordered sentences, “Format” is supposed to organize your disorganized notes into a more coherent form.
OnePlus added Bluetooth reliability and the ability to transmit live images quickly with iOS devices. The following is the rest of the changelog:
-
Contacts can now be switched to a floating window.
-
Photos can now recognize boarding passes and add them to Google Wallet.
-
Apps in large folders can now be displayed in 3 × 3 grids.
-
Fixes an issue that might cause some apps to crash.
-
Fixes a display issue where some app icons might overlap with other elements when pulling down the Quick Settings in the Photos app after restarting the phone.
-
Integrates the November 2024 Android security patch to enhance system security.
Early in November, OnePlus announced its significant Android 15 update for its flagship device for 2023. Many of the same regions that received this second “incremental” patch also began to receive the update. But only the new features that OnePlus developed for OxygenOS 15 were available in the initial release. In particular, the software’s icons in the Systems section and on the Home screen now have a softer, more rounded appearance.
