On Nov. 2, the Red Raiders had their first scrimmage for the year! The Red Team won 47-33. 

The Red and Gray Game is a traditional game where coaches split-up their players, and they play against each other. This game was enforced for the players to get an opportunity to show their talent, and get a view of some game situations before the season starts. Both boys and girls, JV and Varsity played for 12 minutes each for four quarters. They also had JV and Varsity cheerleaders cheering them on during the game on the sidelines.

I got to interview one of the players, Jarmarcus “Jay” Carruth, who plays on Varsity. Carruth described playing against his teammates as a lot of fun, but also “competitive because [everyone] felt the need that they had to win.” Carruth says the most looks forward to building the “right chemistry” this upcoming year, “as far as the season goes, [I look forward to] winning the region championship and then making it farther than last year in the state playoffs.” 

We cannot wait to see what the Red Raiders have in store for us this season. Let’s hope it is a good year!
