Sports spotlight: Football family
Friday night lights in Madison County is a long-lived tradition that everyone looks forward to. It is obvious by the roaring of the crowd that the boys work together well, but the relationship they truly have runs deeper than a sport.
Brotherhood is a huge aspect of football on and off the field. For the sport to be played well, the players must have respect and trust towards each other. The Madison County football team is a prime example of this. As a small town school the boys have grown up and have been playing together for years, and the love and support from the fans is never unnoticed. In the words of Zee Shiflet, ¨What brings us closer is the blood, sweat, tears, perspiration, and dedication towards one another, on and off the field. At the end of the day it is not about winning or losing, it is about the love and connection you have for each other. You have a friendship that lasts a lifetime and the love created is unbreakable.¨
Not only does the love come from fellow players. The coaches use support to encourage their team to play at their best potential. Coach Tad Wilson believes, ¨If a kid feels like you care for them, they will break through walls for you.¨
The love in Madison County runs deep when it comes to the loyalty these boys have for each other.
