Summer vs Winter Skincare

The leaves are turning shades of amber and the air is now crisp; the cold seasons have made their appearance! As our wardrobe changes, so should our skincare routines. It is significant to make swaps in your regime to create the healthiest version of your complexion. Dryness, irritation, flakiness and flare-ups are all repercussions of the extreme temperature change we annually experience. A winter skincare routine is centered around deep hydration, rejuvenation and a shield from the outside rigors.

In the colder months, focus on creamy cleaners instead of a gel. These cleansers that contain moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, and oils will gently remove dirt and impurities without compromising your skin’s natural barrier during the colder months.

  1. La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser
  2. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

Exfoliating is crucial to remove the buildup of dead skin cells. Without exfoliating, your skin may appear dull and lackluster. However, in winter, it is advised to use a gentle exfoliant. This is because they can potentially be harsh and cause further dryness and irritation. Leave the chemical products for the summer!

  1. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
  2. Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

Though it might seem outlandish, never ditch your SPF! Sun damage can happen at any time of the year, no matter the temperature. Wearing sunscreen can help to protect the skin from further irritation and prevent any existing skin conditions from getting worse.

  1.  SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50
  2.  La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen Milk SPF 100

Moisturizing is crucial by being the only product solely focusing on hydrating the face. In the winter time dry skin can often feel tight, uncomfortable, and appear flaky, but by using a thick moisturizer, you can battle the obstacles of the season. Instead of lightweight, thin products, swap them for dense and riotous creams.

  1. SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Refillable Face Cream
  2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel with Hyaluronic Acid

A part of the ultimate desire for your complexion is nourishment and protection. Serums are an exceptional additive to your routine because they contain essential fatty acids and antioxidants that help to nourish and protect the skin, notably in the winter.

  1. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Vitamin C Lactic 15% Vitamin C Firm & Bright Serum
  2. Tatcha The Dewy Serum
