Operation Christmas Child “packing party” Nov. 14
The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child (OCC) collects shoeboxes for children in need. The shoeboxes are filled gifts such as fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. The Samaritan’s Purse project also delivers them to children in need around the world to “demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way.” For many of these children, the gift of a filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
At Madison County High School, we have two amazing clubs that have joined together to have a packing party. We are proud and thankful to FBLA and FCA for their hard work in making it all happen. They have been doing an annual OCC packing party for four years. At last year’s packing party, they packed 380 shoe boxes. That is something to be so proud of as a part of the Madison County community. Last year, MCHS put a sweet handwritten note in every shoebox by the person who packed the box. This year’s goal is to pack 350 shoeboxes.
I personally cannot wait to go spend time with others all in the name of helping those in need. This year, the OCC packing party will be held on Nov. 14 at the Madison County Board of Education in PLC 2 at 7:00 pm. All students are encouraged to come and participate in the fun of packing these gifts of joy for children around the world! For any questions or any more information, please see Jenna Nations in Room 121. Let us all try to show up and help out those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
