The Lord of the Rings is a book series that was adapted into a film series. After watching the LOTR film series, it quickly became one of my top five favorite movies. It embodies the perfect mixture of hope and heroism. The story of good and evil is clearly seen and the cost of what it takes to defeat our enemies. Mr. Harris describes the books and the movies “as well adapted as they could be.” While they are not the same, they are both very worth your time.

The Fellowship of the Ring: This is the first installment in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It sets up the beginning of the journey and sacrifice that must happen, in order for the ring to be tossed into the fires of Mordor. Through this journey, lives are lost, and paths will diverge, yet all journeys will play a key role in saving the world. This is only the beginning of a long journey, full of love, loss and the will to fight. As the journey starts, it focuses on the life of Frodo and his many hobbit friends. It also focuses on the journey of three dynamic characters, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. They help Frodo and his fellow hobbits begin their journey. Yet their paths have a different fate. The trio of man, elf and dwarf are destined to do far greater things.

The Two Towers: This is the second installment in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It focuses on the journeys of the four hobbits as well as Aragon, Legolas and Gimli. They travel to a distant land called Rohan. They are searching for the two hobbits that were separated from Frodo. Their journey takes them through forest, corrupted kingdoms, and even a battle.  As they embark, their journey evolves into the path of a king. They free the land of Rohan from an evil curse and they fight the greatest battle in cinematic history, The Battle of Helm’s Deep.

The Return of the King: This is the third installment in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It focuses on the ending of the story. The journey ends and all paths are complete. The story focuses on the journey to Morder and all that must happen for evil to fall.

The trilogy is really a great motion picture, directed by Peter Jackson. Some might say it is one of the best made movies of all time. I share this opinion with those people and I highly recommend it. I would give this 5/5 stars. It embodies the character and journey we all long for deep in our soul. There’s not many movies that live up to this quality and attention to detail that this trilogy lives up too. I recommend this trilogy to anyone who wants to really ask themselves who I am. As the movie progresses, you really start to find yourself and search your soul. It makes you question yourself and even wonder who you are meant to be.

Overall, the movies stand for something, Something better, something inspirational, and something amazing. They make you want to be better, yet they also make you wanna seek adventure. In the end, the movies make you feel a desire to look for a journey past the average daily lives we live.
