Album review: Beautiful Mind

Justly, yet unjustly, fans have always compared the music of Rod Wave to sadness. Although most of his albums contain a lot of disparity, the rapper that conveys hard times and likewise has it tatted, expresses less sadness on his recent album Beautiful Mind than he does on any album. In this album, he raps more about remedying his life and moving on to a promising fate.
There are love songs on the album – and not simply the ones that mourn relationship troubles or toils. He definitely encapsulated that in “Never get over me,” “Sweet little lies,” and “Everything.” But then we encounter the hopeless romantic Rod in “Forever,” “Never Find Us,” “Pieces,” and “Married Next Year.”
If anything is troubling Rod Wave right now in life, it is the sacrifice he took with becoming famous. His fame has taken over his reality, and in his beliefs, he needs to get back on track. Rod Wave explains to us throughout the songs on the albums that he will never have to worry about where the next meal comes from again nor worry about the ability to try to help out loved ones. As “Heart on Ice” has broken out and with power comes security. “I’m tryna ball, this [person is] tryna take my life,” he sings on “No Deal,” which is one of his new songs.
Many of his fans think of his music as depressing, but this album is more about how he has persevered and achieved many of his goals. Rod has songs a lot of people relate to, such as “Keep Going” and “Fading.” In “Keep Going” he talks about how to grind cannot be stopped, and I have the same mindset. In my opinion, his newest album is one of his best albums out there. I would encourage anyone to listen to this album and more of his music. Rod wave is not depressed; he is just a human being that got rich off speaking on his pain that a lot of others relate to.
