Along with shows like Euphoria and The Walking Dead, Stranger Things suffered a major gap in production. Those of you who may be fans of the show, know that Stranger Things 4 released on May 27, 2022, nearly three years after season three. The season was revealed in July of 2019, providing the longest gap between any of the seasons yet. The newest chapter though, was split into two parts, and the second part released several weeks after the first part, on July 1, 2022. The delay can partially be blamed on the unprecedented setbacks that the crew faced while working on the series, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to that, season 4 was filmed in more locations than previously seen. Rather than the trouble being centralized in Hawkins, new places included the Creel House, Russia, and California. The episodes were longer, with each one running over an hour long. Although this may have been very frustrating for most, the production should take its time to make sure that Stranger Things season four is filmed to the best of its ability, rather than simply rushing something to satisfy an earlier release date. If nothing else, the season’s expanded scope proves that the Stranger Things team is determined to excel what they have done before.

Stranger Things is set in 1980s Indiana, where a teen with powerful psychic powers escapes a sinister government installation. Eleven joins forces with local nerds Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will to battle demogorgons, the Mind Flayer and other monsters. Dr. Brenner’s experiments on psychic kids led to Eleven zapping troubled youngster Henry Creel into the parallel dimension of the Upside Down years ago, where he became season 4’s demonic villain known as Vecna. It picks up with the crew desperately seeking to thwart enemies both human and once human. Nancy, Steve, and that gang have a plan to take on Vecna once and for all. They plan to clear a path to him by using Dustin and Eddie, to distract him while he’s in a tranc and kill him. Meanwhile Hopper, Joyce and crew are trying to get out of Soviet Russia, but end up pivoting back to attempt finishing off the numerous Upside Down beasties that have invaded the Russian prison site. On the other hand, Eleven must escape a military swarmed research facility with Mike, Will, and friends, and she finds a way to aid the fight against Vecna on the supernatural plane. 

Stranger Things’ Season Four ends with a strong, action-filled conclusion, bringing danger into the heart of Hawkins in a way that promises a very dangerous Season Five. If you have not already, I highly recommend watching the ‘Stranger Things’ series especially if you enjoy watching anything from horror, drama, thriller, supernatural, or mystery.
